Bassel al Assad

Bassel alAssad was the eldest son of the former Syrian President Hafez alAssad and the older brother of Syrian President Bashar alAssad. He was widely expected to succeed his father had it not been for his death in a car accident.

Bassel Assad was born onMarch 1962. He was trained as a civil engineer, and held a PhD in military sciences.
